Job Description
College/Department Profile:    

The College of the North Atlantic - Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Teaching Assistant, Information Systems in the School of Business Management and Information Technology. Reporting to the Department Chair, the candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of IT and computer system courses in one of the following areas: Hardware, Network, and Software development. The candidate is expected to possess skills and expertise necessary to support the School of Business Management and Information Technology in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:     

This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will assist in the organization and delivery of Lab lessons, tutorials, and support applied student learning development.

Candidates should have an excellent record of industry experience in Computer Science, Information systems or related field, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Teaching Assistant, Information Systems. The successful candidate is responsible to assist in the preparation and delivery of Lab sessions, tutorials and in the planning and organization of instruction to maximize student retention. Candidates will assist in the design and delivery of laboratory projects to facilitate TVET practice based learning and monitor student work in a laboratory setting.  

Candidates will be responsible for the maintenance of laboratory areas and equipment and will ensure the safety of the laboratory during lessons and the equipment and materials are handled according to college health and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities will also include to support the Lead Instructor with the maintenance of course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and to support the faculty in marking students’ papers, exams in line with the guidelines and to monitor class attendance as required.

The Teaching Assistant, Information Systems will attend departmental meetings and participate in initiatives to monitor and enhance student learning development.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications:

Minimum of Bachelor in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology (or equivalent) from a recognized, accredited institution.

Experience:

2 Year Experience working as part of a team in an educational setting, preferably in a postsecondary institution.

Language:

Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Bilingual in English and Arabic is preferable.
IELTS score of 6 and above.
Other Required Skills:

Self-motivated team player with a proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. Good attention to detail and self-development is essential and the ability to anticipate change is required. Commitment to applied and experiential learning and ability to develop technology-enriched learning environments is required. Commitment to positive relationship building, and collaborative working across all levels of the organisations is required. A Commitment to ongoing IT training and continuous professional development is desirable. Knowledge of Classroom Preparation is desirable Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English language is required and Arabic is an asset.
